Big Fake Wedding Recap

We attended the Big Fake Wedding New England - here’s how it all went down.

Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today, to celebrate a... fake wedding? Yes, you read that right! This August, Skedaddle attended the Big Fake Wedding New England - and it was a blast!

Going to the chapel

So, what is a fake wedding anyway? The Big Fake Wedding started in 2008 as an alternative to typical bridal expos, where brides and grooms-to-be could see a “wedding” in action, where vendors showcase their services by providing everything from the invitations to flowers to live band. The couple is a real married couple who renews their vows in the ceremony - so they’re old pros at this whole getting married thing.

Here comes the bride (again)

Here’s how it goes down: all the attendees of the Big Fake Wedding are brides and grooms in the midst of the wedding planning process. Instead of simply talking to different vendors at their booths, they can see their work in action (and watch a beautiful ceremony to boot) - nothing fake about that! The theme for BFWNE was “Greenhouse Gathering” - hues of soft green earth tones with a pink accent set the mood for the evening, hosted by Willowdale Estate. Not a single detail was overlooked - from the beautiful centerpieces on each table by Jasper & Prudence, to the doughnut tower from The Dapper Doughnut - not even a rainshower could keep the smiles off the guest's faces.

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue

We were drooling over Pure Glamour Cakes all night long - almost too pretty to eat! (Almost - somehow we managed to get over it and get on that red velvet train before it was a mere pile of crumbs.) And we couldn’t stop tapping our feet to the incredible Hot Mess - a 9-piece band based out of Boston. The night ended with a final dance that got everyone on their feet in the beautiful tent - it was easy to forget that none of the couples actually knew each other!

You know you make me wanna (SHOUT!)
